Ever wondered what visitors actually do on your website? Of course! Which website owner does not want to know that? The performance of a website can seriously be improved if you know the facts about your website. Usability standards and other experience about websites can point you in the right direction, but to have reliable and objective information, you will have to use software tools. There are a lot of software tools on the market for tracking user-activity. Usalyze would like to introduce a few handy tools that we use for optimizing conversions on a web page.
1. Introducting Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free software tool that is based on Urchin software. It is a stand alone software tool that gathers overall information about your website. Visitors per day, pages views, bounce rate, most important pages, e-commerce information,… All the information you need is available with this tool.
2. Introducing CrazyEgg
Want to know where your users click the most? CrazyEgg is a software tool you can install on a website and it shows reports about the places where visitor click on your website and which links they use the most. It is free of charge, depending on which version you choose. You can choose between overlay, list or heatmap report.
3. Introducing ClickTale
Google Analytics and CrazyEgg are good tools for gathering valiable information, but following navigation patterns is something else. ClickTale is a software tool that allows you to see what a visitor is doing on the website. It will follow the cursor-activity of a visitor, so you can see what he or she is really looking at or for. Other information is also displayed. ClickTale is currently only available with a beta-version, but we tested it and we have to say that we were impressed.
