It seems that Mozilla is planning to collect data that would certainly give Alexa a run for their money. Users of Mozilla browsers like Firefox could opt-in to share some of their surfing habbits with Mozilla.

The project is still in a planning stage and is currently known only as “Data”. Even though the information will be skewed - show me public data that isn’t - it should be more reliable than the data that’s currently available.

UK-based web design company Message carries out an online survey which aims to answer some fundamental questions about usability on the web. The company found that ideas about what constitutes ‘readable’ text are based on tried-and-tested rules from the world of print. The survey is aimed at building a statistical picture on the subject.

The second post on the brand new GWO blog announces that in the future Google Website Optimizer will also be available outside of AdWords. The standalone version will have a slightly different interface, but the functionality will be very similar to the integrated version.

Great news, because you now can use Website Optimizer to A/B test both your AdWords landing pages and landing pages from other channels such as Yahoo! and email marketing campaigns.
